First you will need:
- Letter of Acceptance
- Passing scores on content tests(s)

Apply with the Human Resources / Personnel department
- Follow their procedures exactly
- Most require you to apply on-line
Apply to as many school districts as possible

After you apply, follow up by phone or in person to request an appointment for a personal interview.
- Always dress very professionally
- Make contacts with anyone you can in the department
Have the following materials in your packet:
- Brief cover letter explaining your interest in teaching
- Letter of acceptance
- Passing scores on content test(s)
- Transcripts
- References (best are from previous employers)
- The required district application, plus anything else they request
- Resume
Be sure to convey your commitment to teaching. Show how your personal background and experiences will help you be an effective teacher. Include any educational experience, for example, if you've ever been a substitute teacher or a teacher's aide.
Talk about your training with Texas Teachers and how that has prepared you for the classroom. Use terminology that you have learned.

Get an offer. There's not much to negotiate. You'll typically receive a set salary schedule and benefits package.
