This test was taken on Computer.
Study: : I used the TExES Preperation Manual, as well as the XAMonline P.E. book (bought on Amazon for $15.00). Both worked good, some areas were common sense, but the motor/movement skills and health related portions were beneficial.
Test: The test was much different than I anticipated after studying the tools I had. It was a bit harder than I thought it would be, but I passed on the first attempt. Make sure you read the questions thoroughly to see what they are really asking for.
Study: What I used to study for the test was the ETS free test guide and youtube videos based on the competencies. What I did was read the competencies and I looked up the important vocabulary words on youtube. I am more of a visual learner so I prefer to see it then google it for a better understanding.
Test: taking the test was a bit challenging because i just studied the day before the test and also the day of the test for about an hour. Overall, it was ok but what did help was studying the cognitive, social, and emotional development in depth and also figuring out how to implement all the definitions from competencies into a scenario. I was blessed to pass it the first time and with little preparation, but the stuff that I did study happen to be very helpful as well.
Study: I used the free online study guide. I went through each topic and made sure I knew the necessary vocabulary for each and how each concept related to the PE class. It is all about relating the topics to an actual situation.
Test: Way easier than I thought. If you know the words and definitions within each concept and know how to integrate that into a class you'll be fine.
Study: I used a couple of free test samples that you can pull offline. They were fine for being free. I also bought the Xamoline TEXES PE book which had a great practice test. I felt this was extremely helpful. I did a practice test on certifyteacher as well, which was good. There are a ton of useful tests but they do cost. I only did one and I did it the night before because I felt I just needed to. I also bought an Ibook (TEXES PE Secrets Study Guide). I did not find this useful, although it does have a decent practice test. Overall, all these practice tests were different from each other. To do it all over, I wouldn't have bought the ibook. I'd still have bought the Xamonline book and may have utilized certifyteacher.com more too.
Test: I felt the test was easier than expected. I had taken so many different types of practice tests and I didn't know which one was more like the real test. I feel like the Xamonline book helped a lot. I passed the first time with a 274/300.
Study: Kinesiology and related majors need not worry. Studied the TEXES ebook. Fairly useful in showing how the questions were formatted.
Test: Easier than expected. Don't be nervous.
Study: I used various tests from other states. I also used the comments from this sight as well. I used a physical education book from half price books.
Test: test was pretty easy once I calmed down and focused and read each question I came to find out that it was pretty easy. I scored a 259 on the exam. When you go take it just remember it is common sense read each question.
This test was taken on Paper.
Study: I used state study guides from several different states and Certify Teacher software. All of the study materials worked great and played a major role in my success. I used a three day rotation, day 1 I focused on Certify Teacher study guide, day 2 I focused on state study guides, and day 3 I focused on Certify Teacher final exam. I studied the note cards everyday. I had 3 weeks to prep for the exam and was ready to go after 1.5 weeks. Final score was 270 out of 300.
Test: Easier than I expected. I highly recommend the Certify Teacher software. Take your time and read the questions! Read the question then read the first answer, read the question then read the second answer, etc.
Study: If you have any background at all in this field, then you will be fine.
Test: Mostly common sense and teaching strategies. There are some questions over adaptive P.E. Relax, most of your answers will be what comes to mind first.
Study: I used the downloadable study guide from certifyteacher.com. It is one of the suggested study aides on this website. It helped a ton because you can take quizes and a pre test to see where you stand. It also gives you 120 flash cards, and I just glanced through those. This program was worth the $60 I paid for the it. I studied for 3 days before the exam and did just fine. I also reffered to the peteacher.com website.
Test: The test was pretty much what I expected it to be. As long as you have general knowledge of the content you should be fine.
Study: Study with a friend who has passed the test. Get with someone who took the test in the last six months and study with them.
Test: Easier than I expected. Take your time and stay focused.
After you pass your test, please post your comments.
