“Texas Teachers enabled me to take my previous work
skills and implement them in the classroom.”

I attended Xavier University of Louisiana and received a degree in Sociology. I also attended DePaul University where I pursued a masters in Sociology.
Yes, 140 that change every year!
My favorite teacher was my Introduction to Sociology teacher, Dr. S.M.B. Miller. What made her special was her passion for the class and the way her enthusiasm influenced her students.
I worked in various capacities for a non-profit organization.
I had always thought about teaching as a profession, and it was my brother and my mother who really convinced me to go for it.
The amount of support and resources that are available for teachers at all levels of expertise.
The biggest challenge for new teachers is being able to expect the unexpected. No matter how hard you try the unexpected will happen!
I'm not sure that any teacher really gets their hands completely around teaching. I believe that the more seasoned you become, the easier the job gets.
Kids teach me the value of compassion and patience.
I chose Texas Teachers because it was inexpensive, flexible, and truly geared towards the professional that has the drive to enter the teaching profession.
