What did you do before teaching?

Manufacturing Management
Why did you get into teaching?

I wanted to work with something more meaningful than a computer.
What surprised you the most when you started teaching?

I was surprised at just how good a teacher I was. It felt natural to me.
What is the biggest challenge for new teachers?

Developing good classroom management skills and instilling discipline.
How long do you think it takes for a new teacher to really get their hands around teaching?

At least one year, possibly longer. I think it's different for everyone.
What do the kids teach you?

How to laugh.
What's the funniest thing that's happened to you in the classroom?

I had two kids act out skits. One of the skits was funnier than an episode of Saturday Night Live.
Why did you choose the Texas Teachers program?

It was the most cost effective program. The staff were extremely helpful and supportive.
